A comedy-drama pitting the depths of scientific theory against the fundamental passions of art. Love is at stake with the Nobel prize hanging in the balance. A year has passed since Professor Bates’ prodigy died unexpectedly. Bates is left to his lonesome life with a telescope in an attic and class after class that doesn’t understand his lectures. One night Ellen appears and announces that she has been hired to sculpt a bust of his head. Things complicate when it’s uncovered that Ellen’s former lover is Bates’ late prodigy. As Ellen engages her morbid curiosity in her lover’s mentor and struggles to resist breaths of love, professor Bates rallies all his scientific knowledge to understand the relationship he never had.
